My mom really loves her horse and is always having a grooming session with him or going riding. She isn’t interested in showjumping or dressage like myself and she doesn’t like the idea of anything competitive; she’s just happy pottering around the lanes on her pony having fun. Her fifth birthday is coming up and my husband and I want to purchase a big present for her and didn’t know what to get until a western saddle came to mind. My brother is staying with me for a while as he’s just finished University and has had to move out of shared accomodation there. He doesn’t want to move back in with my parents and I can’t blame him really. My parents can be a little difficult to deal with and very controlling so I said to him as long as he does my accounting, odd jobs around the house and stuff he could live with me. My horses have done really well this winter and I’m over the moon with how much weight they’ve kept on. I’ve got one horse which is just normal, one that literally lives of fresh air and I’ve still got to monitor her weight in the winter and one horse which often struggles to keep weight on in the summer let alone in the winter but due to some thick lovely grass at the new yard and some nice haylage he’s done really well. I normally pump him full of horse supplements and I’m constantly reading horse nutrition books trying to find ways of improving his weight but thankfully this winter has been really good.

My horse nutrition books have stayed on the self and his horse supplements have gone out of date so I’ve had to throw them away. He’s very happy and very content thankfully. I’d never thought of putting him on haylage before as I didn’t want him going fizzy but it seems to have done the trick perfectly.

There are a few companies around us that really seem to help people our which is really nice. They seem to be family run companies so they have a keen interest in the community. It’s a shame that some of the bigger companies are no longer like this but I’m sure it’s due to loosing that personal touch. The local septic tank emptying essex company really does help out. I’ve got to admit I’m glad it’s January and I can relax. The run up to Christmas and new year was hectic for me and I don’t enjoy being rushed off my feet. My poor cat has been in the wars a bit recently so she’s getting a lot of TLC. The problem is she’s a little bit too nosey for her own good and it never ends very well! For the last few years I’ve been the only person in my family to own horses. My mom had a horse but unfortunately it became very ill and had to be put to sleep. She’s a very sensitive person and she struggled with the idea of ever replacing him and she hasn’t had one since. I’ve offered for her to ride my horses whenever she wants but she never has agreed. She has now finally moved on and although she hasn’t bought another horse she has decided to Loan my friends mare. Now she’s a bit stuck and she’ll have to buy it all over again. She’ll still need to add to the collection but it should start her off.

I feel a bit like I’m living through a bit of my life which happened several years ago. I’ve moved to a lovely little village and I’ve got to admit I love it here. We had to move as I had been transferred to another branch and it was too far to travel from our old home. The village is lovely and small and the people are very friendly, they all take a lot of pride in the appearance of the village and you can’t blame them as it’s a very pretty area of the world.
