NCRC President John Taylor provides a wrapup of his testimony at the House Financial Services Subcommittee. The hearing was on “Rooting Out Discrimination in Mortgage Lending: Using HMDA as a Tool for Fair Lending Enforcement.” HMDA stands for Home Mortgage Disclosure Act which requires collection and reporting of Mortgage Related Data by some lenders. While HMDA is a useful tool in analyzing lending trends, NCRC believes that the data collected should be expanded in order to provide more publicly accessible information to improve analysis of progress and problems in lending patterns. Also featured is Subcommittee Chair, Melvin L. Watt (D-NC, 12th District) interviewed by NCRC’s VP of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Sylvia Lake.

It really isn’t their "own" SWAT team, it’s just the team that happened to be there to enforce the DEP’s warrant… which is still pretty outrageous anyway. SWAT raids should only be used when there’s a good reason to believe the suspect being sought is armed and dangerous… someone suspected of financial crimes doesn’t fit that. This is beyond disproportionate use of force and we should all be pissed.

Move aside "evil" bankers going through courts and sending sheriff deputies to execute the judge’s decisions. Federal goons can send SWAT to collect on bad loans without the pesky Judicial Branch:

Is not it nice, that — tacked into "Obamacare" — the new law make the Federal Government the ONLY source of student loans?

Is it really paranoid to fear the Big Government’s encroachment into more and more of our lives?
Working your way through college may not be an option soon — if the government guarantees loans, the colleges will gladly raise their rates to stratosphere: most students will simply be passing the monies from DoEd and the colleges, so there will be little push-back against the salary-increases demanded by (unionized) college staff. This will make all of us even more dependent on the government.
